Georgetown College Women’s Volleyball sealed an impressive home opener with a straight-set win over Brescia University Thursday evening. The Tigers (3-6) showed no mercy, pulling off a 25-16, 25-23, 25-20 win to hand the Bearcats just their second loss of the season.

"Great to gain a W on our home opener," said GC coach Felicia Pace. "Madison Mudd and Sarah Snyder put on an offensive show. Boz (McKala Bozman) had an outstanding blocking night, and Samantha Lincoln is always a digging machine.

"I hope their leadership will be the spark that drives the team as we move into our first conference match next week."

Snyder blistered the ball with 13 kills on 19 swings for an eye-popping 632 hitting percentage. Mudd was right behind her with 12 kills and a 333 percentage. Bozman came up with five solo blocks and one assisted block, while Lincoln recorded 20 of the team's 62 digs.

Brianna Cathers' 41 assists was a career-high in a three-set match at Georgetown. The junior transfer found the right players every time.

Set one was back and forth until a string of BU errors, capped off with a kill by Ashton Meckle, gave the home team breathing room. Breschai seemed to have control in set two until Bozman helped the Tigers turn the tide. Back-to-back blocks by the senior ignited a seven-point stretch for a swing of four points down to three points up. The Bearcats never recovered.

The Tigers finished it off with flare in the third set. They scored five of the first six points and the final five points after Brescia had knotted the set at 20. Mudd started the final run with a kill. She then served it out and dished up an assist to Isabel Bennett to end it.

Georgetown is back in action at 7:00 pm Tuesday starting Mid-South Conference play at new league foe Thomas More University.
