Submitted on December 8, 2025
Georgetown College Athletics announced the addition of a Competitive Dance program as the 25th varsity sport. Peyton Blanton, a 2015 Georgetown College graduate, has been hired as Head Coach for the program, which will begin in the 2026-27 school year.
Vice President for Athletics Chris Oliver discussed the most recent addition to the Tiger lineup. "As we have continued to explore opportunities for strategic growth on our campus, it became evident that launching a Competitive Dance program under the Athletic Department umbrella makes a lot of sense. This addition provides us with an opportunity to extend the Georgetown College mission to a new group of female student-athletes, who, in turn, can help build an elite program while earning a life-changing education," Oliver said.
"I consider it a great blessing that the timing of this initiative aligned with the identification of Peyton Blanton as our Head Coach. First of all, Peyton is a tremendous representative of the power of a Georgetown College degree. She has a great vision for what our program can become, and she is very well-connected in the Dance community throughout Kentucky. Coach Blanton will be a great asset for us as we lean on her experience to help us launch the Tiger Dance program over the coming year."
Head Coach Peyton Blanton added her thoughts. "Attending Georgetown College was one of the best decisions of my life. It gave me an incredible education, surrounded me with a culture I truly loved, and shaped me into who I am today. I'm honored and grateful for the opportunity to return and start a Competitive Dance program at a place that means so much to me. Here's to building something special and starting a winning tradition of Dance at Georgetown College. Let's get to work!"
The announcement comes on the heels of Georgetown College Athletics launching Esports, Men's Wrestling, and Women's Wrestling during the current 2025-26 school year.
