Welcome to our 2024 Commencement ceremony! Below you will find description of our highest honors for outstanding seniors and outstanding faculty.

President’s Award

Each year, the President of Georgetown College has the privilege of presenting the President’s Honor Award to an outstanding graduating senior.  Begun in 1986, the President’s Award is for the graduating senior who has distinguished herself or himself academically, and as an exemplary Christian servant-leader at Georgetown College over a 4-year period.

The Don and Chris Kerr Cawthorne Excellence in Teaching Award

The Cawthorne Excellence in Teaching Award, established in 1988 by Don and Chris Kerr Cawthorne, is given each academic year to a full-time member of the Georgetown College faculty. This award gives the entire faculty an opportunity to focus its attention on that aspect of the College which the faculty recognizes to be most important - excellence in teaching. All faculty members invest a large portion of themselves in this endeavor, and the success of these efforts, in large part, is intertwined in the success of the Georgetown College faculty as a whole.  Since the likelihood of our experiencing in the next life “well done…good and faithful servant” depends upon our mutual success and support now, all faculty members should be able to experience joy in the success of the recipient of the Cawthorne Excellence in Teaching Award.
