Each year, Georgetown College bestows the prestigious Outstanding Student Leader Award upon seniors who have not only exhibited exceptional leadership skills but have also left an indelible mark on our campus. This year, Dean of Students and Vice President of Student Life Curtis Sandberg had the privilege of presenting this award to two outstanding individuals, Quentin Barclay and Clara Jo Harvey.
Quentin Barclay is from Arlington, Texas. He is currently President of Kappa Alpha Psi and has played football all four years. He is also an active member of the Black Student Union. He has served as a campus photographer for several years and runs his own photography business. He will attend Baylor University in the fall for his master’s degree and will receive the Bishop Scholar Scholarship.
Clara Jo Harvey is from Georgetown, Kentucky. She participates in Future Business Leaders of America, French club, Tabletop Enthusiasts, the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She also volunteers for the Amen House in Georgetown and serves as a Becker Campus Ambassador to promote careers in accounting. In her spare time, Clara Jo runs her own baking business and sells her treats in the Mulberry Café through a partnership with Sodexo. Clara is currently interning at Welch and Company CPAs and will begin a position as Administrative Coordinator at BIM Group in Lexington, Kentucky after graduating.
“It was a true honor and joy to read through the nominations for each of these students, knowing them, and watching them grow. I can attest to their character, leadership, and impact,” said Dr. Sandberg. “Our graduates are all prepared to lead and I cannot wait to see the positive impact they will make in the world.”
