DeMarcus Hopson Named Associate V.P. for Enrollment Management and Student Access

Georgetown College proudly announces the appointment of DeMarcus Hopson as the new Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Access. Bringing a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success, Hopson will lead the strategic oversight of the College's enrollment initiatives and play a crucial role in shaping the future of student access and success.

“I am deeply honored to join Georgetown College and contribute to its vibrant community,” stated Hopson. “My goal is to ensure that we not only attract a diverse range of students but also provide them with the support and opportunities needed to thrive."

In his new role, Hopson will focus on attracting and retaining a diverse student body, while ensuring equitable access to educational opportunities, particularly for minority and underserved communities. His comprehensive responsibilities range from implementing innovative recruitment strategies to refining the student admission process.

“DeMarcus is the right person at the right time for Georgetown College,” said Provost Dr. Jonathan Sands Wise. “Not only does he bring enrollment knowledge, a gift for organization, and a dedication to liberal arts higher education, he also brings a strong desire to help GC become a better and more diverse institution.”

Hopson also plans to collaborate closely with the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, led by Robbi Barber. Hopson is dedicated to creating and promoting programs that support early recruitment and an inclusive educational environment.

“I am excited to have DeMarcus on the Georgetown team,” stated Barber. “His focus on inclusion and access is an important part of recruiting and retaining students. He brings a wealth of experience and expertise that will be invaluable to students as well as the entire Georgetown College campus.”

In his educational pursuits as a first-generation college student, Hopson has achieved several notable milestones. He earned his bachelor’s degree in history and interdisciplinary studies from Kentucky State University in Frankfort, Kentucky; a master’s degree in strategic leadership instruction from the U.S. Army Command and College in Kansas City, Missouri; and specialized graduate certificates from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and the Army University in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He is currently pursuing his doctorate in higher educational leadership at Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi.

Renowned for his expertise in higher education policy and enrollment management as well as student services, Hopson is a sought-after educator and advisor. His ability to translate complex concepts into actionable strategies has made him a prominent voice in these fields.  

President Rosemary Allen expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “DeMarcus brings to Georgetown College a passion for liberal arts in a Christian context, a talent for organization and systems, and a wonderful blend of wisdom and energy. We are excited to see what he will accomplish.”
