Speaker: Andrea Abrams,  Associate Professor of Anthropology, Centre College, Associate Vice President for Diversity Affairs

She is the author of God and Blackness: Race, Gender and Identity in a Middle Class Afrocentric Church (NYU Press, 2014). Her research focuses on racial and gender issues in the South.
Abrams has a B.A. in sociology and anthropology from Agnes Scott College. She earned a M.A. in anthropology, a graduate certificate in women’s studies, and a Ph.D. in anthropology from Emory University.
