About Athletic Training
A blend of extensive hands-on experience and rigorous coursework prepares you to sit for the Board of Certification exam, the only route to becoming a certified practicing athletic trainer. Georgetown College offers a a pre-professional track in Athletic Training, which enables you to evaluate, diagnose, treat, and rehabilitate a wide range of athletic injuries under the direct supervision of a licensed physician. Program alumni currently serve as athletic trainers in high schools and colleges, clinics, and even with professional teams.

Dr. Karla Francioni, Director of the Athletic Training Program, served as the Athletic Trainer for the USA Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team during the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Paralympic Games.

Georgetown College is 1 of only 3 colleges in Kentucky teaching athletic training at the undergraduate level.
Hands-On
Students learn hands-on skills at various clinical sites that interest them including colleges, high schools, physical therapy clinics, physician assistant offices, and even at cardiac rehabilitation clinics.
