Winners Announced in Annual Scholarship Pageant

Pictured here with President and Mrs. Greene, they were crowned as the 2019 honorees in the annual scholarship pageant. Each one receives a $1,000 scholarship.

Caroline Hughes is the 1st Runner-up for Belle of the Blue; Sam Clark was named the Beau of the Blue 1st Runner-up. They each receive a $500 scholarship.

The overall scholarship winner was Willow Dove. Caroline Hughes was named Miss Congeniality.

In making their selection from among the fifteen contestants, Judges considered GPA, essay scores, poise, talent, and a personal interview. The Belle, apart from a cash award, may choose to represent Georgetown College in the annual Mountain Laurel Festival as well.

These outstanding students were selected by their peers for participation:

Kelsey Adams, a freshman from Georgetown representing Allen Hall. Art is her intended major with a communication minor.

Hannah Belk, a freshman from Louisville, representing Sigma Kappa. She intends to major in Biology with a minor in Art.

Samuel F. Clark, a freshman from Danville, representing Kappa Alpha Order. Engineering Arts is his intended major.

Afton Curtsinger representing East Campus. Afton is a senior from Taylorsville. He is majoring in Spanish with a Psychology and Christian Leadership double-minor.

Michael Devlin, a freshman from Killarney, Ireland, representing Lambda Chi Alpha. He plans an Accounting major with a Business Administration minor.

Willow Dove, a junior from Chillicothe, Ohio, representing Alpha Gam. Willow is a Psychology & Spanish double-major with minors in Biology, Chemistry, and Theatre.

Jasmine Duncan, who commutes from Frankfort, is a freshman who plans to major in Biology with a minor in Business.

Caroline Hughes is representing Kappa Delta. The freshman from Eastwood plans a major in Nursing with a Biology minor.

Jerryn Jones, a junior from Mount Sterling, represented Hambrick Village. The junior is a Political Science and Philosophy double-major.

Cameron Kenner representing President’s House Association. The junior from Frankfort is a Biochemistry major.

Eddie Lam, a junior from Paducah, represented Sigma Kappa. Eddie is majoring in Psychology with a minor in Communication.

Bailey Everlee Morris, a freshman from Lexington, representing Collier Hall. She plans to major in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish.

Mary Lou Moxley representing Phi Mu. The junior from Morganfield is a Biochemistry major with a minor in Psychology.

Madison Patton, a freshman from Lexington also representing Hambrick Village. Madison plans a Political Science and Spanish double major with a Business Administration minor.

Cole Stump representing Phi Kappa Alpha. The Mt. Washington junior is an Exercise Science major with a minor in Religion.

The Belle of the Blue may represent Georgetown College in the annual Kentucky Mountain Laurel Festival held in Pineville in May. The Beau of the Blue may serve as the escort for the Belle at the Mountain Laurel Festival.

The Belle of the Blue and Beaus Too scholarship pageant is presented by GAC, the Georgetown Activities Council.
