ON WE GO! – May 9, 2018

Among the many blessings of my life is being married to a good cook. Carolyn grew up having a mother who loved to bake, and whose favorite seasonal dessert was a platter full of special Christmas cookies baked each December. Typically, following the main course at Christmas dinner, there would be a platter with Spritz chocolate camels, green trees, and white wreaths, along with Toffee Squares, Tea Cakes, Date Balls, Almond Crescents, and Sugar Cookies, among the many options. Through the years, Carolyn has enjoyed baking, and, not wanting to ‘steal her mom’s thunder,’ has added Ginger Snaps and Peanut Butter Fudge to the dessert menu.

When we arrived at Georgetown, Carolyn quickly realized that baking cookies for student teams and groups on campus could serve as a ‘thank you’ and encouragement from us, as well as be a part of her ministry to students. It has been a beautiful thing to see, and, from the comments and cards she has received, it appears that the cookies have been much appreciated.

This Saturday, a Senior Class will graduate from the College. Many of those students will have enjoyed Carolyn’s cookies at some point along the way. That is an additional sweet thought for a special day.
