ON WE GO! – June 6, 2018
Submitted on June 6, 2018
I hope that indelibly imprinted on your minds, and recalled every year, is the significance of June 6. It was June 6, 1944, that Allied forces landed on the beaches of Normandy, in what was to signal the beginning of the end of Hitler’s control of Europe. That battle was the major turning point of World War II in Europe, and cost the Allies over 200,000 casualties, including over 50,000 dead.
I hope that we always remember and honor what occurred on June 6, 1944. I regard as both true and meaningful the statement (source unknown) that wherever there is freedom there is duty, and wherever there is privilege there is obligation.
