ON WE GO! – June 20, 2018

For decades, I have been accustomed to singing in worship services what is known as the ‘Common Doxology.’ It is a brief hymn of high praise to God, frequently sung at the end of the Offertory or other segments of worship. As many of you know, the first line of the Doxology is, ‘Praise God, from whom all blessings flow.’ This line is easy to sing, but it takes the experiences of our lives for its meaning to become real.
This past week at Georgetown was one such experience, as our entire campus community, along with our extended Georgetown family and friends across this world, was able to celebrate the wonderful news on the accreditation front. Finally, the years of worry and strain that so many have felt have been overwhelmed by a flood of joy and happiness. It is such a wonderful feeling, and I am so happy for everyone associated with the College.
The joy we now experience is real. From my perspective, the recent news is also a classic illustration of how, from hardship, God brings success and victory. Indeed, it is a signal moment to praise God, from whom all blessings flow.
