ON WE GO! – February 28, 2018

Last Thursday, Georgetown College participated in the National Collegiate Day of Prayer. The day was coordinated on campus through our Office of Faith and Service, and it proved to be a wonderfully inspiring day for the many people who participated. From 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., people gathered in the Prayer Room on the lower level of Hill Chapel, with arrangements made for continuous thirty- minute sets across the twelve-hour period. Participants included students, staff, faculty, local pastors, and other friends who came together to pray and be renewed through such spiritual devotion.
I was invited to lead one of the sets, and I viewed those moments as a privilege to bow in prayer with Christian students and other friends. I also was humbled when, at the conclusion of my portion, the group offered prayers for me as President of the College. It was touching to hear the words that were uttered, and to sense the thoughtfulness that inspired them. It also is comforting to know that throughout the day, many people, many needs, and many efforts were lifted up in prayer. Heartfelt thanks to all who were a part of that good day.
