Shawn Dubin MLB Draft Pick
Submitted on June 8, 2018
It seemed a forgone conclusion, but until your number is called – you do not talk about it. Georgetown College baseball pitcher Shawn Dubin has been under scout watch all season. As he struck out a new school record 128 batters, he posted a 9-1 record with a 2.09 ERA. This solid year under the watchful eye has paid off as Wednesday afternoon in the 13th round the senior from New York was drafted by the defending World Champion Houston Astros.
“You never know what teams are thinking,” said GC coach Micah Baumfeld. “Shawn had an outstanding season this year, and we felt he earned this great opportunity at the professional level. We are very excited for him. Astros got a great, dominate pitcher. We can’t wait to see what the next stage has for him.”
Dubin was also named NAIA First-Team All-American – third player in GC baseball to be named first-team.
