Nine on Women's Team Make Mid-South Academic All-Conference
Submitted on March 2, 2018
While the GC women’s basketball team didn’t fare so well Thursday afternoon (March 1) against rival Campbellsville University in Mid-South Conference Tournament play, they dominated the right way the day before at the announcement of the 2018 Mid-South academic all-conference team. Nine of the Georgetown team members earned at least a 3.25-grade point average making them eligible to receive the recognition.
“To say I’m proud is an understatement, but never am I surprised by our student-athletes dedication in the classroom,” said GC Director of Athletics Brian Evans. “It is an expectation that starts at our highest level filtering all the way to our coaches, who take it very seriously.”
Senior Shelby Beam set the pace, earning her third straight award. Juniors Kennedy Flynn, Lydia Graves, and Martina Lytle were honored for the second time, while Leslie Fries earned her first recognition. Sophomores Anna Arrastia, Kaci Currens, Hailey Ison, and Dasia Kilbourne picked up the award in their first year of eligibility.
In tournament action, the GC women were defeated 85-64 by Campbellsville.
