Georgetown College Helps Needy Families in Scott County

As a proud member of the Georgetown/Scott County community, Georgetown College strives to be a good steward and to help those in need. This Thanksgiving, Georgetown College helped provide Thanksgiving baskets to needy families in the Scott County School District.
Faculty and staff at the college donated food and dry goods and the president’s office donated turkeys, storage tubs, and GC ornaments. This past week President Jones, First Lady Amy Jones, and the entire first family wrote personalized cards and delivered the baskets.
The effort, which was led by Campus Minister Bryan Langlands and Assistant Vice President of Advancement and Community Relations Christy Mai, will ensure that several families in the Scott County community have a blessed holiday.
“Georgetown College has deep roots in the Christian faith,” said Bryan Langlands. “By gathering these food items and sharing them, hopefully we will make the love of God visible and tactile and delicious for the folks who are receiving these boxes. I have been amazed at how eager and appreciative our faculty and staff have been to have this opportunity to share food and goodwill with our neighbors. Georgetown College is supported in so many wonderful ways by our Scott County community, and we are grateful for this opportunity to return blessings.”
