Using the latest data on job placement ratings for colleges, the career-guidance site ‘Zippia’ ranked Georgetown College the best college in Kentucky for graduates “getting a job.” Zippia.com posted the schools in each state with the best record of graduates getting jobs after graduation. Georgetown College achieved a placement rate of 92.54%, ranking it #1 in Kentucky. Using the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), Zippia identified the college in each state with the highest listed job placement ratings.

“The ranking confirms what we know about Georgetown College and the value of a liberal arts education,” stated President M. Dwaine Greene. “Students who come to Georgetown receive an exceptional educational experience that prepares them to communicate effectively and approach problem-solving with a breadth of insight. Employers value problem-solving and communication skills.” Greene shared, “I love to tell people about the unique combinations of degrees Georgetown students receive, like one student who was a Philosophy major and Biology minor, now serving as a vice-president at a bank. Or a student who majored in Chemistry and minored in Biology who went to law school and became a judge. These kinds of stories are the norm rather than the exception, and they speak to the quality of education that Georgetown provides.”

As families and prospective students contemplate the costs of education, there is much to consider. Research data provided by the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) confirms that a college education increases lifetime earnings by $1 million and significantly increases retirement income. Data further suggests that college graduates have healthier lifestyles and healthier children, are more likely to volunteer, vote, contribute to philanthropic entities, pay more taxes, and experience lower unemployment rates. “Georgetown College is more affordable than you think, and certainly more valuable,” confirmed Jonathan Sands Wise, Vice President for Enrollment Management at the College. “A college degree remains one of the best investments a person can make in herself, and Georgetown College is an excellent place to get a broad and excellent Christian education.” Sands Wise advises students and their families to contact the campus to find out exactly what a Georgetown education will cost. “Then they will be able to make an informed decision regarding the potential return on their investment in a Georgetown College degree.” He continued, “The personal attention from our faculty and staff and the opportunities that every student is given to get internships in their field, to network with important professionals, and to get career-ready skills, really explains why our graduates are so successful.”

Economist.com’s first ever college ranking issued in 2015 listing the economic value of a college/university based on the gap between how much money its students subsequently earn, and how much they might have made had they studied elsewhere listed Georgetown College in the top 5% (number 43 on the list) in the nation. The next closest Kentucky college was listed at 237.

Another strength of Georgetown College is it provides individual career advising and preparation, internships, and job search resources through the Graves Center for Calling and Career. For 189 years, Georgetown College has prepared students for their life’s pursuits in many fields. “Georgetown graduates are teachers, ministers, medical professionals, industry leaders, business owners, bankers, public servants, and on-and-on across the U.S. and around the world,” proclaimed Greene.
