Excellence inside the classroom is a key component for all Georgetown College students. The College is dedicated to a championship level education of the heart and mind. Tuesday afternoon a Tiger leader was honored for commitment to his studies.
Tiger quarterback, SGA president and Rho Sigma Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity member Zach Dampier earned the Kappa Scholar Award during the South-Central Province Council virtual meetings.
"I'm truly honored to be able to be recognized by the Province for this award," Dampier said. "I am proud to be able to represent the Rho Sigma Chapter as well as Georgetown College. It wouldn't have been possible without my brothers holding me accountable all the way."
The award is for the member of the fraternity's South-Central Province with the highest grade point average. The Danville, Ky. native, who has been on the Dean's list every semester at Georgetown, currently has a 3.91 GPA as a marketing major.
"Zach has been a viable member of the chapter and his record speaks for itself," said chapter advisor of Rho Sigma Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. Rodney E. Broome. "The members of the chapter are establishing a culture based on our motto of achievement in every field of human endeavor."
Dampier indeed lives this motto out as a team leader on the football field – 1,916 yards on 150 completions for 17 touchdowns; SGA president, member of Rho Sigma Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi and the Ambassadors of Diversity.
"I'm so proud of Zach and his chapter brothers for supporting each other and becoming viable members of the Georgetown College community," Broome said.
