The Maskrafters Academy is an opportunity for students interested in Theatre and Film Studies to receive an extra scholarship while they are in college for doing exactly what they want to do already: taking part in shows, doing internships with theatre and film professionals, attending film festivals, and other amazing opportunities!
Who should apply?
The Maskrafters Academy is for any student who loves being involved in Theatre and/or Film! Maskrafters are regularly involved in the plays produced each year on campus, and in the films produced by our Film Studies faculty.
“I practically lived in the black box theatre with the Maskrafters and it was the best part of my Georgetown College experience. I got to be fantastically creative with an amazing group that morphed into family over four years."
Meredith Cave Moran, '13
What are the benefits?
Our Maskrafters Academy allows accepted students to use film equipment for individual projects, participate in every stage show, attend workshops at the Humana Festival each spring, and intern in a related field. All Academy students will also receive a scholarship of $1,000 per year, and an additional $500 during their senior year to allow them to direct a play or film a movie for their senior project. With our focus on developing new work for stage and screen, we give students the chance to explore their own ideas and the tools to become content creators.
"Without the Georgetown College biology department, I wouldn't have had the courage or the knowledge to get into Optometry school. I couldn't have been more prepared for my entrance exam, and my incredible professors are to thank for that!"
Hayley Hamman Childers, 2016
What are the admission requirements?
- Audition at Georgetown Scholars Day (if invited)
